The international art festival Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk is a most important culturological platform for the Union State of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Grigory Rapota on 12 July.
The official said: “In any sphere it is an important to have an effective tool to achieve practical goals. Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk is such a tool in the sphere of culture of Belarus and Russia. The significance of the Vitebsk forum – a most important culturological platform for us – goes far beyond the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.” Grigory Rapota pointed out that Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk has been held for 28 years already and still remains topical. “It is interesting for people. There is demand for it. It means it will develop,” Grigory Rapota believes. This year's Union State Day is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Belarusian music band Pesnyary and the 20th anniversary of the Treaty of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. Speaking about the future of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, Grigory Rapota stressed he looks at it from the angle of the documents that determine the Union State development strategy in the near future and the medium term. “One can spend a long time recounting the most significant areas. Those include the formation of the common industrial policy, transport and energy space, the improvement of the legal base, which we are doing right now. There are concrete things to take care of. For instance, we should reinforce the scientific and technical component of Belarus-Russia relations. Dropping roaming charges in the territory of the Union State of Belarus and Russia is of current interest,” he said.
