FEZ Vitebsk export in goods up almost 62% in January-September 2021

24.11.2021  In January-September 2021 resident companies of the Vitebsk free economic zone (FEZ Vitebsk) increased the export of goods by almost 62% compared to the same stretch a year ago, BelTA learned from FEZ Vitebsk Administration.

In January-September 2021 a total of $623 million worth of products were shipped to foreign markets, which is the best result among all Belarus' free economic zones. The FEZ resident companies accounted for 35.5% of the Vitebsk Oblast total exports.

Over the period the trade surplus made up $189.3 million. The trade surplus in services amounted to $4.2 million, in contrast to the country's other FEZs which posted trade deficit in services.

This year the FEZ resident companies have been cooperating with partners from 73 countries. The first supplies of fiber-optic cable went to Afghanistan, those of gas smoke analyzers - to Poland, fur skins - to China, linen - to Chile, insulated electric cables - to France. This became possible thanks to the work carried out by enterprises to diversify exports in conditions of increased risk of the negative impact of the coronavirus epidemic on international trade. Thanks to the reorientation of commodity flows, it was made possible, for example, to increase by almost 50% the supply of products to third countries, including an increase in sales to the UK, UAE, India, Pakistan, India, Israel and Brazil by three or more times.

FEZ Vitebsk implements a total of 54 investment projects with the participation of investors from 14 countries, including Germany, the Czech Republic, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, the UK, Israel, Cyprus, Spain. FEZ Vitebsk comprises 16 sectors with a total area of nearly 2,800 hectares, eight of which are located in Vitebsk, five in Orsha District, and one in Novopolotsk, Postavy and Polotsk District each.
