Remains of 17 Red Army soldiers reburied in Vitebsk District
In Vitebsk District near the village of Noviki, a ceremony was held to reinter the remains of 17 Red Army soldiers who fought during the Great Patriotic War for the liberation of the district. this year the search teams uncovered the remains of 17 soldiers of the Red Army. The names of the two soldiers were identified thanks to the medallions. During the reburial ceremony, the medallion of the 42nd Infantry Division's Sergeant Mikhail Samokhin was handed over to his great-nephew from Moscow - ten-year-old Artem Karasev, who came to Vitebsk District with his father. The medallion of Red Army soldier Piotr Sitkin was given to his granddaughter Lyubov Yakimova from St Petersburg.
