On March 20, 2025, a Lesson of Memory dedicated to the tragedy in the village of Khatyn was held in educational institutions of Belarus.
In anticipation of the Day of Remembrance for the residents of the village of Khatyn, burned by the Nazis on March 22, 1943, Elena Kazakova, Deputy Vitebsk Transport Prosecutor, visited the State Educational Institution "Gymnasium No. 4 of Vitebsk named after M.I. Denisenko."
In the educational institution, the first lesson in every class, from youngest to oldest, was dedicated to the Khatyn tragedy.
"The village engulfed in flames, along with its residents, has forever entered world history as a symbol of the inhumanity of the Nazis and their accomplices. The tragedy in Khatyn is not an accidental episode of the war, but one of thousands of facts testifying to the deliberate policy of genocide by Hitler's Germany against the population of Belarus," noted Elena Kazakova.
The Deputy Prosecutor spoke about the progress of the criminal case investigation into the genocide of the Belarusian people, the facts of atrocities by the Nazis and their accomplices, and the importance of understanding the entire tragedy of the people for forming a realistic view of current events.
The investigation of the criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people is a tribute to the memory of the fallen and contributes to the establishment and preservation of historical justice, serving as a legal barrier against attempts to falsify the events and outcomes of the Great Patriotic War.
At the end of the meeting, Elena Kazakova answered students' questions, urged them to cherish their history and remember the great feat of our people.
