On December 21, an expanded meeting of the commission on state border policy implementation in the Vitebsk region was held in Vitebsk.

The commission was attended by the acting Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus, State Counselor of Justice of the 3rd Class A.V. Dubov, Chairman of the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus, Colonel-General L.S. Maltsev, as well as officials of regional and district authorities and representatives of law enforcement agencies.

The event summarized the work done to ensure border security in the region in 2016 and identified priority tasks for 2017. The report on this issue was delivered by the chairman of the commission, Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee O.S. Matskevich.

Colonel-General L.S. Maltsev spoke about the activities and tasks facing the border service of the Republic of Belarus and its interaction with other entities in ensuring border security. He emphasized the need to form a worldview among the population of border regions, based on their knowledge of current legislation, which would allow them to provide effective assistance to border guards in protecting the State Border from criminal and other unlawful encroachments by destructive elements. The motto "The entire nation guards the border" is still relevant today. This is not pathos, but a pressing demand of the times, as the country's chief border guard stated his position.

In turn, the acting Prosecutor General, A.V. Dubov, noted in his speech that issues of supervision over the enforcement of legislation on border security are always under the scrutiny of the prosecutor's office. He informed the attendees that on December 9, 2016, a joint seminar of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus and the Main Military Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation was held in Minsk on the topic "On the experience of prosecutor's offices in ensuring the border security of states," where the parties exchanged their work in this area.

At the end
