Farmers of the Vitebsk region have threshed 1 million tons of grain and rapeseed

Аграрии Витебской области намолотили 1 миллион тонн зерна и маслосемян рапса

A solemn ceremony was held at the field of RUP "Vitebsk Zonal Institute of Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" to mark the threshing of 1 million tons of grain and rapeseed by the region's agrarians.

According to the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, considering the weather and all circumstances, this is a real feat. The harvest was not easy: combine units were accompanied by heavy tractors in case of getting stuck in rain-soaked soil. The head of the region emphasized that everyone tried very hard and gave 120% this year. He expressed his immense gratitude to the Grodno, Minsk, Mogilev, and Gomel regions, which sent combine harvester brigades to help, contributing to the result, and called 1 million tons one of the intermediate milestones that inspires further success.

Handing over a symbolic sheaf to Alexander Subbotin, the First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Sergey Levkovich noted: the achieved indicator indicates that this is not the maximum level that the Vitebsk region can reach. However, under the current conditions, this is a significant achievement, as everyone who works the land knows. Regular rains affected the pace of the harvesting campaign. As never before, inter-farm and inter-district transfer of equipment was used, and assistance was provided by other regions. Without organized work at the district, regional, and republican levels, such a result would not have been achieved. In general, 1 million tons is a testament to the coordinated work of rural workers.

Presidential Aide – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Vladimir Yurgevich stated that this significant indicator is a great contribution to the country's food security, providing the livestock industry with feed additives and mixed feeds. In the persons of combine operators Viktor Kozlov and Sergey Ignatiev from the Vitebsk Zonal Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Agriculture, he expressed gratitude to all field workers and emphasized that, while visiting the regions, he saw the difficult weather conditions faced by crews and drivers, but there was a drive for work and a spark in their eyes.

Villagers still have a few problematic grain fields to harvest, as well as spring rapeseed, which yields a good harvest. Sowing of winter cereals is actively underway. The corn harvest is ahead, part of which will be threshed for grain.
