Vitebsk region agrarians need to maintain the pace of grass fodder harvesting - Leonid Zayats

"Forage harvesting is a serious campaign, the pace of which, with the start of grain harvesting, should not be reduced throughout the entire growing season," the minister emphasized. According to him, in the Vitebsk region, 1.8 centners of forage units per conventional head of cattle have been harvested less compared to last year's level. At the same time, there is a harvest in the field: after abundant rainfall, perennial grasses such as clover, alfalfa, and cereals have grown very intensively.

"With a reasonable organization of work, every farm in the region has the opportunity to ensure the laying of grass forage in the required quantities to fully meet the needs of livestock farming. It is necessary to distribute forces and resources very efficiently and thriftily to ensure good livestock overwintering, form consolidated detachments and mobile groups from two or three farms that will carry out forage harvesting," said Leonid Zayats. He recalled the President's requirement to prohibit the transfer of feed from one farm to another, as these maneuvers are accompanied by high costs. The minister drew attention to the progress of the regional program of the Vitebsk region for the construction of silage trenches. "This year, it is planned to build 219. 56 have been built, 122 are under construction, and another 54 need to be started. This work must be under constant control," he added.
