Chairman of the regional executive committee Alexander Rogozhnik held negotiations with a delegation from the Andijan region of Uzbekistan headed by khokim Shukhratbek Abdurakhmanov.
The recent Belarusian-Uzbek forum has intensified regional cooperation between the two countries. For a week, three delegations from the Kashkadarya, Namangan, and Andijan regions familiarized themselves with the potential of the Vitebsk region. The latter arrived today.
As noted by Deputy Chairman of the regional executive committee Anzhelika Nikitina, the interest in our region is understandable. The Vitebsk region was the first to implement investment projects in the agricultural sector. Representatives of Uzbekistan have purchased and leased livestock facilities. Cattle have already been delivered to the Shumilinsky district.
– The interest is absolutely genuine. Taking into account yesterday's instructions from the head of state on the development of projects in the Vitebsk region, business cooperation with Uzbekistan will be intensified. Thus, the delegation of the Andijan region will be offered facilities that would be of interest to our partners for the construction of new and modernization of old livestock facilities. During the negotiations, it is planned to discuss other issues related to the creation of cooperative chains in the light industry, the development of logistics, and tourism, – explained Anzhelika Nikitina.
In addition, a delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan is currently in our region. It is visiting the Shumilinsky and Gorodok districts.
– Today, we are talking not only about the creation of livestock complexes but also about the full cycle of production and processing of agricultural products. Tomorrow, we expect another delegation, which will be headed by the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It will be joined by ministers in various sectors, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. It is planned to discuss not only the development of the agro-industrial complex but also those areas that are of interest to both sides. These include woodworking, light industry, the creation of furniture production, as well as tourism, logistics, and others.
Andijan region occupies the eastern part of the Fergana Valley. In agriculture, cotton growing, cocoon production, grain cultivation, horticulture, and viticulture are most developed. In industry – mining and processing of minerals, oil and gas, the construction industry, and the textile industry.
