– Taking into account rapeseed and corn, the Vitebsk region plans to harvest 1.2 million tons of grain, – said the chairman of the regional executive committee Alexander Rogozhnik at the republican selector meeting. – This year, the areas for growing corn for grain have been almost tripled – to 31 thousand hectares, which will improve the quality of the feed base for animal husbandry. Next year, it is planned to increase the areas to 50 thousand hectares.
As of today, 84% of winter barley areas have been harvested, 16% of rapeseed, and flax has been pulled from 27% of the sown areas.
The readiness of grain harvesting combines is 99%, 97% of units have passed state technical inspection. Industrial enterprises, specialists from the Ministry of Defense, and the security bloc provided significant assistance in repairing equipment – they prepared 358 units, which is almost 40% of the fleet. 62 new combines will participate in the harvest. The readiness of grain drying complexes is 98%.
More than 920 people from industrial enterprises and organizations have been involved in the harvesting campaign.
Simultaneously with the harvest, soil preparation for sowing winter rapeseed for the 2027 harvest is underway – more than 9 thousand hectares have been plowed. At least 60 thousand hectares will be allocated for the cruciferous crop.
