Alexander Subbotin: "Vitebsk region will begin the active phase of harvesting approximately by the end of next week"
– According to our calculations, there are 1 million tons of grain in the fields, and we will do everything possible to harvest the crop, – said the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, at the republican selector meeting on harvesting issues. – 950 harvesters will participate in the harvest, their readiness is currently 87%, and by the end of the week it will be 93%. 12 mobile teams from Gomselmash dealer centers are involved in preparing the equipment; we have asked the enterprise to send two more teams, which have arrived and are helping. Spare parts worth about 2 million rubles are concentrated in the warehouses.
As of this morning, about 45% of winter barley fields have been harvested, with almost 14 thousand tons of grain threshed at a yield of 32 centners per hectare (10 centners per hectare more than last year). In the Vitebsk region, 13.3 thousand hectares of flax have been sown (2 thousand hectares more than in 2024); the pulling of the northern silk has already been carried out on 1.5 thousand hectares.
Vitebsk region will begin the active phase of harvesting approximately by the end of next week. The harvest is planned to be completed within 25 days. To assist lagging farms, inter-farm and inter-district transfer of harvesters is envisaged.
1519 units of equipment will be involved in grain transportation. 584 machine operators and drivers from cities and district centers have been mobilized to help the villagers. Farms are supplied with fuel.
Preparations for sowing winter crops are starting in parallel.
According to Alexander Subbotin, fodder procurement is taking place under difficult weather conditions. Nevertheless, over 11 centners of fodder units per conventional head of cattle have been procured, slightly short of last year's level, which was the most successful in the history of the Vitebsk region. There are still 5 centners of fodder units of carry-over fodder remaining. In total, we plan to procure 30 centners of fodder units per conventional head of cattle for the stall period.
