ARCHIVAL: The history of Vitebsk region in faces
Vasily Pashkovsky, Head of the Department of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office for Supervision of Compliance with Legislation by Bodies of the Criminal Executive System and Compulsory Enforcement, took part in the thematic event "ARCHIVELY IMPORTANT: The History of the Vitebsk Region in Personalities".
This forum, dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation, was held at the V.I. Lenin Regional Library in Vitebsk. It brought together representatives of the organizational structures of the Belarusian Trade Union of Employees of State and Other Institutions, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian State Archive of Audiovisual Documents, the Main Department of Justice of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, employees of the education, science, and culture sectors, archivists, students, and schoolchildren.
During the event, archival materials were demonstrated, and speakers gave presentations about prominent people of the Vitebsk region: Soviet party and state figure Pyotr Masherov, People's Artist of the USSR, Honorary Citizen of Vitebsk Fyodor Shmakov, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor, Rector of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine in 1968-1995 Mikhail Zhakov, poet and prose writer David Simanovich. Archival and book exhibitions were presented to the attendees.
Participants of the event noted the importance of such meetings and their significance for preserving the memory of the talented and distinguished people our country is rich in.
