Without a statute of limitations
There is not a single Belarusian who does not know about the unique memorial complex "Khatyn", which has become a symbol of the tragedy of the Belarusian people. It is the most revered place in Belarus, a reminder of the tragic horrors of war.
On this day, students of the educational institution "Secondary School No. 40 named after M.M. Gromov in Vitebsk" together with an employee of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, V.V. Zhurba, honored the memory of the fallen, familiarized themselves with the documentary pages of the punitive operation carried out by the fascists against the residents of the Belarusian village, and were impressed by the story of the criminal – a senior lieutenant of the Red Army who defected to Germany and commanded the massacre of the Khatyn residents.
The schoolchildren were interested in the history of the creation of the memorial site, which is identified with the fates of thousands of settlements destroyed by the fascists, as well as the fate of Kaminsky Iosif and his five children, who survived the Khatyn fire.
The school students were also familiarized with the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On the Genocide of the Belarusian People", which was adopted to preserve the memory of millions of Soviet citizens who became victims during the Great Patriotic War and the post-war period, and will contribute to the inadmissibility of distorting the outcomes of the war.
