More than 300 units of new equipment will be delivered to the agroholdings of the Vitebsk region by April - reported Ivan Fedorov, Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee

The Chairman of the committee noted that the main task of the agrarians now is preparation for spring field work. "And we are actively working in this direction. We are purchasing new equipment - by April, more than 300 units will be supplied to our integration structures. These are tractors, forage choppers, cultivators, plows, etc. We are preparing the equipment that is available in the farms. By order of the Regional Executive Committee, specialized points have been created in the region where more complex repairs are carried out, while minor repairs are done by the farms themselves on-site. We are fully provided with seeds for our needs and are accumulating mineral fertilizers," Ivan Fedorov said. Assessing the past year, the Chairman of the committee emphasized that it was quite challenging for the agriculture of the Vitebsk region. However, the region's agrarians, despite nature's whims, managed to achieve good results. "In crop production, grains and rapeseed were disappointing. This was due to the weather conditions during the harvest. But we provided livestock with feed - we harvested 29 centners of feed units per conventional head. We have the best indicator in the country for flax - 3.5 tons per hectare, and one of the highest yields of vegetables and potatoes in the country. Gross livestock production for the year amounted to 103.5% compared to the previous year, with swine production reaching 129%. We milked more milk than in the previous year. We slightly fell short in cattle breeding, but this is the number one task for the current year," said Ivan Fedorov. He also noted that in January, a positive trend in gross livestock production is maintained in the region - 107% compared to last year. "At the same time, in the integration structures created in the region, on which we are focusing for the development of the region's agro-industrial complex, this indicator is over 115%," noted the Chairman of the committee.
