Boris Efremov on fodder harvesting in the Vitebsk region: there is equipment, cities will provide the missing machine operators

Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Boris Efremov spoke about the preparations for the fodder harvesting campaign in the region.

"In terms of physical weight, we need to procure 2 million tons of haylage and silage as usual. And we shouldn't forget about such a type of fodder, which is not only popular but also effective, as haylage in stretch film. This is essentially a replacement for traditional hay, which was harvested before. We need to ensure its procurement at the level of 140 thousand tons," said Boris Efremov.

For fodder harvesting in the region, there are 999 mowers, of which about 700 are ready for operation, about 450 rakes, and a similar number of fodder harvesting combines. There are about one and a half weeks left until fodder harvesting, and during this time the equipment will be prepared.

"At the end of the first ten days of June, we will begin mass harvesting of perennial grass fodder. For the first mowing, it is necessary to harvest it from 210 thousand hectares. There is a shortage of machine operators, but this issue has already been resolved: about 250 people will be sent from urban enterprises to help the farmers," emphasized the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee.

Agricultural enterprises still have time to prepare silage pits, purchase film and covering materials, so as not to be distracted from the fodder harvesting campaign later.
