The coming year should be a turning point for the flax industry in the Vitebsk region – Nikolai Sherstnev
The governor outlined the main tasks, focusing on the technical support of the industry, personnel training, and a responsible attitude to work. The latter component also applies to the selection of land. The region has determined a plan for flax fields for the next 7 years, and it is the duty of district and farm managers to conscientiously adhere to crop rotation and carry out high-quality soil preparation for the fibrous crop. The head of the region is convinced that flax cultivation should be handled by specialized farms, and there is no reason to sow the crop in small quantities in all agricultural organizations. Flax requires a large amount of specialized equipment for technological sowing, cultivation, and harvesting. Purchasing it for each enterprise is not efficient. However, flax mills and flax-sowing organizations should have the full range of equipment and special machinery to carry out work within optimal and shortest possible timeframes. The governor emphasized that good flax is already grown in the Vitebsk region, but due to delays in harvesting (due to a shortage of equipment) and the wear and tear of flax mill equipment, it is difficult to obtain high-quality fiber. In the very near future, the region will finalize the required amount of equipment and personnel, and determine the fate and development path of each flax mill.
"Literally tomorrow, we will adopt a final scheme for providing equipment, and we need highly productive equipment that will allow us to work technologically and quickly. With the entire complex of equipment and adherence to cultivation technology, we will be able to manage flax cultivation effectively. We must make next year a turning point for flax cultivation in the Vitebsk region. This is the task set," emphasized the head of the region.
