On Independence Day, we traditionally pay tribute to the people who have made an invaluable contribution to the development and formation of our country. Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov spoke about this good tradition during a rally and laying of flowers at the bust of Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Socialist Labor Pyotr Masherov on Zamkovaya Street in Vitebsk.
– It is very symbolic that the Day of Independence is celebrated on the day of the liberation of the capital of our Motherland from the Nazi invaders. This emphasizes that we honor the heroes who gave their lives for our freedom and independence. Through the labor of our parents, our grandfathers, and the labor of the current generation, we have created a beautiful country where we want to live, raise children, work, and study. The fact that it will always be so depends on our labor, unity, patriotism, and love for our small homeland and the Fatherland as a whole. We remain true to the good tradition on Independence Day and other state holidays to pay tribute to one of the legendary people of Belarus, a native of Vitebsk region, Pyotr Masherov. Pyotr Mironovich defended the freedom of our country with a weapon in his hands, participated in the partisan movement. Then he dedicated his life to building the socio-economic block of Belarus. Such people are the salt of the earth, by whose example we must educate our youth, passing the baton of memory to future generations, – noted Dmitry Demidov.
