Effectiveness of investigative supervision

As part of the supervision of inquiries, prosecutor's offices examine the materials of pre-investigation checks and procedural decisions made on citizens' applications.

During the supervision activities in the territorial internal affairs bodies, the regional prosecutor's office initiated a criminal case under para. 2, part 2, Art. 181-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (Use of slave labor against two or more persons).

From the materials of the pre-investigation check, it was established that a 46-year-old resident of the Vitebsk region, for several years, intending to use slave labor against two or more persons, acting out of mercenary motives, sought out individuals leading an anti-social lifestyle, including those previously convicted, in the Vitebsk region. Under threat of violence not dangerous to life and health, by constant intimidation, he forced them to work on his household plots and construction sites, while not paying money for the work performed.

The criminal case has been sent to the Head of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus for the Vitebsk region for the organization of preliminary investigation.
