Agricultural land in the Vitebsk region covers 1176.1 thousand hectares, including arable land – 770.7 thousand hectares. The ploughed area is 65.5 percent.

The fertility score of agricultural land is 26.6, and arable land is 28.8.

There are 179 agricultural organizations operating in the region, with an average headcount of 29.1 thousand employees.

The region's agriculture specializes in the development of beef and dairy cattle breeding, fodder production, and the cultivation of grain, leguminous, and industrial crops.

Livestock production accounts for 65 percent of the gross agricultural output, while crop production accounts for 35 percent.

In 2025, the production of cattle and poultry amounted to 233.8 thousand tons, including cattle – 61.4 thousand tons, pigs – 58.7 thousand tons, and poultry – 113.6 thousand tons.

Average daily weight gain for cattle is 529 g (+ 22 g compared to 2024), and for pigs – 659 g (+ 19 g compared to 2024).

472.9 million eggs were produced (105%), with an average laying hen productivity of 311 eggs (309 eggs in 2024).

Gross milk yield is 761.9 thousand tons (99.1%). Milk yield per cow was 4641 kg (+ 135 kg compared to 2024), and milk commercialization was 90.5% (+0.8% compared to 2024).

As of January 1, 2026, the cattle population was 437.6 thousand heads, including cows – 154.4 thousand heads. The pig population was 270.6 thousand heads.

In 2025, for public livestock farming, fodder crops were harvested in terms of feed units
852 thousand tons, or 25.2 feed units per conventional head of cattle. In natural terms, 69.9 thousand tons of hay, 1770.9 thousand tons of silage, and 1390.2 thousand tons of haylage were harvested.

The gross yield of grain and leguminous crops, after post-harvest processing, was 848.4 thousand tons (125.5% compared to 2024) with a yield of 28.1 c/ha (22.4 c/ha in 2024).

93.8 thousand tons of rapeseed were threshed after post-harvest processing (163.9%), with a yield of 14.6 c/ha (11.2 c/ha in 2024).
