Residents and guests of the Vitebsk region are served by public transport of JSC "Vitebskoblavtotrans", as well as by private carriers.

Passenger transportation is provided on 159 urban, 457 suburban, 38 intercity, and 2 international routes. On average, 294.9 thousand passengers are transported daily by the branches of JSC "Vitebskoblavtotrans" on these routes. To perform export services, there are 35 freight road trains available.

JSC "Vitebskoblavtotrans" uses 798 buses, 88 trolleybuses, 69 tram cars, and 1 electric bus for public passenger transportation.

Passenger transportation on the Vitebsk branch of the Belarusian Railway is carried out by 20 international trains, 22 interregional trains, and 56 regional economy-class trains. On average, these trains transport 19 thousand passengers daily. At the Vitebsk and Polotsk railway stations, a free Wi-Fi internet access service has been implemented for passengers. Information and reference terminals have been installed at the Vitebsk and Polotsk railway stations to provide information on train schedules and fares.

Roads

The length of local roads in the Vitebsk region, which are on the balance sheet of KUP "Vitebskobldorstroy", is 15,040.4 km, of which 11,781.7 km or 78.3% have a hard surface, and 3,258.7 km or 21.7% are unpaved roads.

RUP "Vitebskavtodor" has 3,019.5 km of republican roads on its balance sheet, including 2,963.6 km serviced in the Vitebsk region and 55.9 km in the Krupsky district of the Minsk region.

In addition, there are 1229 bridge structures with a total length of 33.8 thousand linear meters and a number of other devices and structures ensuring the safety and convenience of transport and passenger movement on local and republican public roads in the region.

Organizations of the state road industry of Vitebsk region carry out a set of works that ensure the maintenance and preservation of the transport and operational condition of roads and bridges in a safe and continuous mode of traffic. Measures are being taken to restore order on the land and improve settlements. Arbors for recreation, bus shelters for boarding and alighting passengers are manufactured and installed.
