Container train from Belarusian Orsha arrives in Chinese Nanchang
21 March 2019
An
international container train from the Belarusian city of Orsha reached the
Chinese city of Nanchang, Jiangxi Province on 19 March, representatives of the
Consulate General of Belarus in Shanghai told BelTA.
After travelling for over
11,000km across Belarus, Russia, Mongolia, and China along the Silk Road
Economic Belt the train delivered 41 containers full of Belarusian peat
fertilizers and sawn timber to Nanchang. Taking into account the rather poor
soils in Jiangxi Province the fertilizers will come in handy. The train's
operators were the Belarusian logistics company OOO Bremino Group and the
Chinese logistics company COSCO Shipping. Consul General of Belarus to Shanghai
Valery Matsel, Jiangxi Province Vice Governor Wu Zhongqiong, Secretary of the
Nanchang Committee of the Communist Party of China Yin Meigeng took part in the
train welcome ceremony. First Deputy Chairman of the Orsha District Executive
Committee Sergei Pats and Director of OOO Bremino Group Vasily Dementei came
from Belarus to attend the event. Expansion and enhancement of interregional
cooperation between Vitebsk Oblast and Jiangxi Province were high on the agenda
of Valery Matsel‘s negotiations with top government officials of Jiangxi
Province and its administrative capital Nanchang. Valery Matsel and Sergei Pats
also met with Nanchang Mayor Liu Jianyang. A protocol of intent to establish
friendly relations between Orsha District and Nanchang was signed as a result.
Ways to export more Belarusian products and services to Jiangxi Province and
the organization of mutual visits were discussed as the consul general met with
top officials of the external relations office and the commerce department of
the Jiangxi Province government. Two more container trains with Belarusian
products are expected to leave Orsha for Nanchang soon.
