Prosecutor General of Belarus Aleksandr Konyuk and Head of Department – Head of the Secretariat of the Prosecutor General of Belarus Igor Shkatulo took part in a meeting of the commission of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee

The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus, Konyuk A.V., and the Head of Department – Head of the Secretariat of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus, Shkatulo I.G., took part in a meeting of the regional commission on state border policy in the Vitebsk region.

At the commission meeting, it was emphasized that ensuring legality in the border area is one of the priority tasks for all executive authorities and law enforcement agencies.

Thanks to the measures taken, the crime situation in the border regions of the area remains stable.

At the same time, it is evident from criminal case materials that the region is increasingly used by criminal international groups to organize illegal migration of citizens to the European Union countries, which requires more persistent work by law enforcement agencies to promptly identify violations of the law that pose a threat to border security and encroach on the financial system of the state.

The role of local executive authorities in ensuring border security needs to be strengthened, especially in terms of attracting material, technical, and financial resources for carrying out activities related to maintaining and further developing the infrastructure of the border area.

The potential of voluntary patrols and other public formations is being utilized in the activities for the protection and defense of the State Border of the Republic of Belarus.

In addition, the role of mass media in ensuring the security of the State Border was noted.

Overall, the discussion of this issue showed that the strengthening of legality and law and order in the border area is a relevant issue and requires constant coordination of actions of all interested state bodies.
