Main Department for Education: More than 2.7 thousand people will take part in the Republican Spartakiad of schoolchildren in the Vitebsk region
The final stage of the competition will be hosted by sports bases in Vitebsk, Orsha, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, as well as in Vitebsk and Gorodok districts. The delegation of the northern region of the country will be represented by more than 280 athletes and about 50 coaches - representatives of national teams in various sports.
The grand opening ceremony of the Republican Spartakiad of schoolchildren in the Summer Amphitheater is scheduled for June 16. On the same day, the regional center will host a flower-laying ceremony at the Memorial Complex in honor of Soviet soldiers-liberators, partisans and underground fighters of the Vitebsk region, and a sports and mass procession of delegations of Belarusian and Russian teams "Youth. Unity. Sport."
In Vitebsk, on June 13, the first day of competitions opens with boxing, handball among boys, sports and rhythmic gymnastics. Meanwhile, tournaments in women's volleyball, chess and checkers will start in Orsha. In total, young athletes will prove themselves in 21 sports, including track and field, weightlifting, trampoline jumping, football, volleyball, basketball, and judo. It is expected that Russian schoolchildren will take part in competitions in 13 of them. The main department for education noted that the solemn opening and closing ceremonies of the competitions with the awarding of winners will be held for each sport.
