Main Department for Education: Regional forum to gather about 400 agro-class students in Orsha district

The 2nd regional forum of agro-class students will be held in the Orsha district on May 17-18, the main department for education of the Vitebsk regional executive committee informed a BELTA correspondent.

About 400 students from agricultural classes, 200 of whom study in Orsha, will take part in the large-scale event. The students will communicate with the heads of advanced agricultural enterprises of the Orsha district at a dialogue platform, and then for two days, divided into groups, they will be able to visit objects of the agro-industrial complex (AIC), including the Orekhovsky flax mill. They will also visit exhibitions of educational institutions of agricultural profile. At the Ice Arena, schoolchildren will present their agro-classes, showcasing their developments and projects. An introductory tour will also be held at the sports complex, so that the students know how local AIC workers living in the district center spend their leisure time beneficially for their health.

An agro-quest will be held for the students, where each team will earn points for tasks, and the best team in this competition will receive a prize. In the evening of May 17, schoolchildren will be able to relax at a vibrant disco at the Ice Arena and visit the cafe there.

The program for the next day will also be eventful. Students will have the opportunity to communicate with the region's agrarians, award the best students for participating in olympiads of various levels, and attend the festival's closing concert.

There are 144 agro-classes operating in the schools of the region, and many students do not always understand what the Vitebsk region's AIC represents. As noted in the main department for education, last year a similar forum was held at the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, and it involved half as many students. This year, the program has been expanded. The organizers see the goal of such an event not only as career guidance for students but also as an introduction to potential employers – heads of high-tech agricultural enterprises, and the conditions of work and life in the countryside.

Next year, schoolchildren will be introduced to the agricultural sector of the Polotsk district, where the third regional rally of agro-class students is planned to be held.
