Main Department of Trade and Services: after construction and reconstruction in the Vitebsk region, 70 catering facilities were commissioned in January-September
The infrastructure of the northern region includes 13.8 thousand retail outlets of various formats, including 7.6 thousand stores with an area exceeding 740 thousand sq.m. In addition, there are 83 shopping centers, 54 markets, and 1.7 thousand public catering facilities operating for consumers in the Vitebsk region. All of them strive to meet the needs of buyers and provide quality goods.
The provision of retail space for the region's residents exceeds the established norm of the state social standards system by 32%. "According to operational data as of October 1, it amounted to 806 sq.m per 1 thousand people," noted Irina Levkovich. "The provision of seats in public catering facilities is 40 seats per 1 thousand population. In this indicator, our region ranks first among the regions of the country."
According to the head of the main department of trade and services, the Vitebsk region shows good dynamics in terms of increasing retail space. "In January-September of this year, the retail space of stores in the region increased by 2.8 thousand sq.m. Due to new construction, reconstruction, and resumption of operation, 70 public catering facilities were commissioned. And next year, work in this direction will continue. In particular, this includes the implementation of large investment projects in the field of trade and public catering. Among the facilities to be built are a shopping and entertainment center on the territory of the former reinforced concrete products plant in Orsha, and a multifunctional center for trade, entertainment, and services in Novopolotsk. The reconstruction of the "Brigantina" cinema building on Builders Avenue in Vitebsk will continue, where an entertainment center with public catering infrastructure will soon appear," said Irina Levkovich.
