Main Department of Trade and Services: there are no interruptions in the sale of sugar in the Vitebsk region

Head of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Main Trade and Services Department, Irina Levkovich, commented on the rumors circulating on the Internet about a shortage and price increase of sugar:

– There are no disruptions in sugar sales in the Vitebsk region. The stocks of this commodity at retail and wholesale trade enterprises, and at manufacturers' warehouses, are sufficient for uninterrupted trade and full satisfaction of consumer demand. Due to the panic demand for sugar in other regions of the republic, the situation is under special control of the trade management bodies of city and district executive committees and the consumer cooperation system.

According to the Belgospishcheprom concern, there are enough sugar reserves at processing plants until the new harvest.

As for the price, it remains the same, as stated by the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART). The trade markup on sugar is regulated and set at 15%. In addition, manufacturers are not increasing the price, which allows enterprises and trade organizations to operate profitably.
