Main Department of Housing and Communal Services: 38 iron removal water treatment stations have been commissioned in the Vitebsk region since the beginning of the year

In the Vitebsk region, 38 iron removal water treatment plants have been commissioned since the beginning of 2020, and five more are planned to be launched by the end of the year. This was announced today at a session of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies by Yuri Dyadelo, Head of the Main Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

According to Yuri Dyadelo, 40 iron removal water treatment plants were launched in the region in 2019. All work is carried out within the framework of implementing the measures of the subprogram "Clean Water" of the state program "Comfortable Housing and a Favorable Environment" for 2016-2020. Over the past period, the provision of clean water to consumers has increased from 84.4% in 2016 to 94.8% as of the end of 2019.

As of October 1, 95.8% of consumers in the Vitebsk region are provided with water of normative quality. Consumers in large cities - Vitebsk, Novopolotsk, Polotsk, Orsha - are fully provided. At the same time, the established production capacities of the operating water intake facilities and water treatment plants in these cities are quite large and are used on average only up to 40%.

Regarding the work to improve water quality in the districts, Yuri Dyadelo noted that by the end of the year, quality water supply will be ensured in all settlements of the Orsha district. In subsequent years, it is planned to gradually improve the situation in all other districts.
