"The Main Person on the Road" is the title of the exhibition that opened at the regional museum of local lore, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
As noted by the Head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, Police Colonel Maksim Subbota, ten decades is not just a number, it is a huge path traversed side by side with the history of our country, a path of ensuring safety and law and order on the roads.
– When we look at the exhibits of the exhibition, we see the stages of development. From the first traffic controller's baton and the first traffic lights to modern video recording complexes and patrol cars. Technology changes, roads change, but the main thing remains unchanged – the person. This exhibition is a tribute to those who stood at the origins, who restored order on the roads in the post-war years, who serve their difficult service in any weather, day and night. This is the foundation on which we build our work today, – said Maksim Subbota.
Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Petr Belus emphasized that since its creation, the State Automobile Inspectorate has been fulfilling a crucial public mission – preventing road traffic accidents, monitoring compliance with traffic rules, assisting road users, and fostering a culture of safe behavior on the roads. In different years, the tasks of traffic police officers changed and expanded, but the main goal has always remained the protection of citizens' lives and health.
The exhibition reflects the history of the formation, development, and daily activities of the State Automobile Inspectorate (GAI). The exposition features archival photographs, documents, uniform samples, service items, elements of technical equipment, as well as other material evidence related to the history and activities of the GAI. The exhibits allow tracing the evolution of the service, seeing how its appearance has changed, how traffic control means have improved, and how professional experience of employees has been accumulated.
Archival photographs occupy a special place, as they most vividly show the atmosphere of different years, the staff composition, service vehicles, as well as the specifics of GAI work in various periods. Photo documents not only complement the material exhibits but also create an emotional connection between the past and the present, helping visitors to see the living history of the service. Samples of uniforms and service items demonstrate the continuity of traditions, discipline, and the professional specifics of the State Automobile Inspectorate employees' work.
This is an exhibition about the service and its people, about the succession of generations, about a history that is formed by daily, sometimes unnoticed, but very important work.
The ceremonial part of the exhibition opening included awarding employees who demonstrate exemplary service, and veterans of the State Automobile Inspectorate.
