Executive Committee Meeting: Vitebsk Region Plans to Build 1.8 Million Square Meters of Housing in Five Years
In the Vitebsk region, it is planned to commission 1.8 million sq. m of housing in 2021-2025. This was announced today by the Chairman of the Committee for Architecture and Construction of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Shidlovsky, during a meeting of the regional executive committee.
In 2021, a phased increase in the volume of construction of total housing area with state support, rental housing, and houses where heating, hot water supply, and cooking will be powered by electricity is planned. "Over the next five years, the Vitebsk region intends to commission 1.8 million sq. m of housing. In 2016-2020, 1.4 million sq. m were built," said Alexander Shidlovsky.
This year, 90 thousand sq. m will be built in the region with state support for those registered as needing to improve their housing conditions. By 2025, this figure is intended to be increased to 160 thousand sq. m. In seven months, 390 large families have been provided with housing in the region, which is 56% of the annual target.
In Vitebsk, it is planned to develop the Nekropolye, Cheremushki, Tarny, and Luchesa microdistricts with high-rise buildings by 2025. From 2022, it is intended to build more than 150 thousand sq. m of housing annually in the regional center. "In the city, 27 thousand people are registered as needing to improve their housing conditions, including 15 thousand young families with one child," added the chairman of the committee for architecture and construction of the regional executive committee. By the end of the year, residents of 10 multi-story buildings in Vitebsk will be handed the keys.
Currently, housing is mainly being built in large cities, while one or two houses are commissioned per year in district centers. In Rossony, Shumilino, Ushachi, and other settlements, multi-story buildings will be erected once every two to three years in the next five years, and in some places, only individual housing construction will be limited.
