The Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, Roman Golovchenko, the Assistant to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Vladimir Yurgevich, and the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Dmitry Demidov, are taking part in the regular meeting of the regional executive committee.

Opening the meeting, the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, noted that for a number of indicators, positive dynamics have been ensured compared to the same period in 2024, when the region ranked second in the republic in terms of development dynamics.

“Summing up the preliminary results of the year, we can note that we are growing at a high rate in terms of investment, and traditionally we have added almost 20% this year as well,” emphasized the head of the region. “About 600 million rubles have been invested in infrastructure projects. At the same time, the region is showing a deficit in gross agricultural output (97%), industrial production (96%), and wholesale trade turnover (68%). Exports of goods are below last year's level (62.8%). This shows that we are not working effectively enough, both by sectors and by administrative units.”

For the elapsed period of 2025, Alexander Subbotin noted, less than half of the assigned targets have been met. An unsatisfactory assessment for the implementation of socio-economic development parameters has been given to the work in Vitebsk, Novopolotsk, Orshansky and Polotsky districts, which are key contributors to the formation of the region's indicators, as well as in Vitebsky and Lioznensky districts.

The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee called for an objective discussion of the results of the outgoing year, proposals and methods for strengthening work in the next five-year period.

The Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Anzhelika Nikitina, delivered a report on “Socio-economic development of the Vitebsk region in 2025 and forecast for 2026”.
