Commission for the Implementation of Directive No. 1 Requirements: In the Vitebsk region, for the first half of 2021, the level of industrial injuries decreased by 16%

According to the results of the first half of 2021, the Vitebsk region maintains a downward trend in suicides and alcohol poisoning, and the situation with the number of deaths at work has stabilized. The level of industrial injuries has decreased by 16%. The number of crimes committed while intoxicated has decreased by 11%. The number of road traffic accidents on the region's roads has decreased by the same percentage points. At the same time, 9 road traffic accidents were caused by drunk drivers.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Khristoforov, at an expanded meeting of the commission for the implementation of Directive No. 1 "On measures to strengthen public safety and discipline." The focus was on issues related to the work of preventive entities in eliminating emergencies and deaths from external causes, preventing fires, as well as measures taken to ensure the safety of people on water.

There are claims against a number of enterprises and organizations where labor discipline is not at the proper level. Facts of alcohol consumption and being intoxicated at workplaces are revealed. Since the beginning of the year, 632 employees have been dismissed for these reasons, and more than 6,000 have been held accountable.

The number of deaths in fires and as a result of road traffic accidents has increased, and the situation with the number of deaths due to drowning remains critical.

The Chairman of the regional organization of OSVOD, Alexander Myasoedov, stated that in the first half of the year, 46 people drowned in the waters of the Vitebsk region, and in July – 22, of whom 10 were intoxicated. Despite the fact that there are 47 specially equipped beaches in the region, most of the tragic cases occurred in those waters where swimming is prohibited.

The situation with fires is also not improving, the number of which has increased by 10% since the beginning of the year, reported the First Deputy Head of the Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Andrey Gavrilenko.

59 people died, 43 of whom (72.8%) were intoxicated.

Six fires occurred in dormitories. The reason is that not all dormitories are equipped with fire automation systems, or these systems are not in working order.

Andrei Gavrilenko is confident that the potential for joint actions to prevent fires is not exhausted; in particular, the effectiveness of inspection commissions needs to be increased.

First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Oleg Matskevich emphasized that much has been done since Directive No. 1 came into effect. But preventive work must be carried out daily and systematically, as people's lives and health depend on it.
