Committee for Economy: Vitebsk region's trade turnover with Russian regions increased by 16.2%

Interaction within the Union State remains one of the most responsible areas of work in the external circuit, noted Konstantin Cherny, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Economy of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee:

-- Based on the results of 10 months of last year, enterprises ensured a trade turnover with the regions of the Russian Federation in the amount of 4 billion dollars, of which product exports amounted to 1.2 billion dollars (growth rate of 116.2 percent compared to the same period in 2021).

The demand for goods from the Vitebsk region is high, and Russians especially liked food products. Food and agricultural raw materials for 10 months were exported for 306.6 million dollars, with a growth rate of 122.6 percent. The share of these products in total goods exports is 26.6 percent. For some product items, the growth is several times, not only in physical volumes but also in monetary terms. Union programs related to product traceability, veterinary, and phytosanitary control have helped to remove annoying barriers in food exports.

The volume of supplies of fish preserves increased by 1.2 times, and in value terms – by 1.6 times, beef – by 1.3 and 1.6 times, respectively, poultry – by one and a half and two times.

If 1.4 thousand tons of sausages and meat preserves were shipped in 10 months of 2021, then 2.8 thousand tons were shipped last year. These products were shipped for 9.9 million dollars, respectively – an increase of 2.6 times compared to the same period in 2021. "Vitba" breakfast cereals – 742 tons versus 599 tons, a growth of 1.2 times, and in monetary terms – 1.6 times. Twice as much mineral water was supplied, and in terms of cost – 3.5 times. Baby food is in demand, with 5 thousand tons shipped for 12.7 million dollars compared to 4.1 thousand tons and 7.9 million dollars in 2021. Supplies of flour, potatoes, and flax fiber also increased.
