State Property Committee: the 17th-century former monastery building in Polotsk is offered to investors free of charge

The premises of the former Bernardine monastery, located on the bank of the Western Dvina River in Polotsk, are offered to investors on a gratuitous basis for the implementation of an investment project.

The Polotsk Bernardine Monastery is an ancient architectural monument. It was built in 1695. Over time, the monastery complex grew. It included a forge, a bakery, a brewery, and a stable. The monks also had their own garden and vegetable patch. In 1832, after the Russians arrived in Polotsk, the Catholic monastery was closed and transferred to the Orthodox department.

The monastery is a T-shaped building constructed in the Baroque style with a gallery layout. All objects of the monastery complex are included in the state list of historical and cultural values of the Republic of Belarus with the assignment of the 2nd category. Currently, the Polotsk region offers investors both large production facilities of JSC "Steklotextile" and smaller objects – the former traffic police building, a school, garages through auction sales, as well as shop buildings in the district that can be purchased for a base value.

The building located in the very center of Polotsk on Freedom Square at 1A Francysk Skaryna Avenue may be of greatest interest. Its construction was completed in 2017. It was planned to house a dental clinic here. An auction for it is scheduled for August 22 – the object is offered for 163 thousand rubles, already with a 50% price reduction. The Polotsk district is actively working to find investors, and half of the unused facilities in the region planned for economic circulation this year have already found new owners.
