If warm weather conditions are established and maintained, the sowing campaign in the Vitebsk region may begin on April 4-5.
However, in some districts of the region, the top dressing of winter cereal crops and perennial grasses has already begun.
This year, the spring crop acreage will be 314 thousand hectares, including 135 thousand hectares of cereals and legumes, about 19 thousand hectares of cruciferous crops, 80 thousand hectares of corn, and 11 thousand hectares of flax.
The provision of mineral fertilizers in the region's farms is 31 percent, and nitrogen fertilizers – 36 percent, which is higher than in the same period last year. The readiness of tractors is 87 percent, including energy-saturated tractors – 77 percent. In total, 6141 tractors will be involved in the sowing campaign, including 1167 energy-saturated ones.
