Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Regional Executive Committee: The number of unemployed has decreased in the Vitebsk region

As of October 1, 2021, 1.2 thousand people were registered as unemployed in the Vitebsk region, which is 23.7 percent less than on October 1, 2020 (1.6 thousand people).

The number of registered unemployed decreased in 19 districts of the region, in the cities of Vitebsk and Novopolotsk, remained unchanged in Beshenkovichsky district, and increased in Shumilinsky district.

The registered unemployment rate as of October 1, 2021, was 0.3 percent and has not changed compared to October 1, 2020.

A decrease in the registered unemployment rate was noted in 14 districts, in the cities of Vitebsk and Novopolotsk; the unemployment rate remained unchanged in 6 districts and slightly increased in 1 district. In all districts and cities, the registered unemployment rate does not exceed the maximum permissible value.

In January – September 2021, 16.4 thousand people applied to the employment service for employment assistance (0.7 percent less than in January – October 2020), of whom 7.3 thousand people were registered as unemployed (6.8 percent less).

 

Within the framework of the State Program "Labor Market and Employment Promotion" for 2021 – 2025, in January – September 2021:

· 12.7 thousand people were employed in permanent jobs;

· 377 people were sent for training in professions in demand on the labor market;

· 83 unemployed individuals received subsidies to start their own businesses;

· 2527 people participated in paid public works;

· temporary employment was provided to 3929 students during their free time;

· 19 unemployed individuals were employed to gain practical work experience;

· adaptation to work activities was organized for 40 people with disabilities;

· 29 families of unemployed individuals were relocated to new places of residence and work.

The employment rate of citizens who applied for assistance was 70.3 percent (compared to the target of 60 percent for January – September 2021), which is 3.4 percentage points higher than in January – September 2020.

Наиболее востребованными профессиями у нанимателей являются: швея, водитель автомобиля, контролер-кассир, повар, продавец, плотник, слесарь-ремонтник, слесарь по автомобилей, электрогазосварщик. Среди специалистов и служащих постоянным спросом пользуются бухгалтеры, инженеры, медицинские сестры, врачи. В сельской местности востребованы трактористы, операторы машинного доения, животноводы, ветврачи, зоотехники.

As of the reporting date, information was submitted on the availability of 9.5 thousand vacant jobs, which is 35.4 percent more than as of October 1, 2020 (7.0 thousand) and 47.8 percent more than as of January 1, 2021 (6.4 thousand).

The most in-demand professions for employers are: seamstress, car driver, cashier-controller, cook, salesperson, carpenter, repair fitter, auto fitter, and electric gas welder. Among specialists and employees, accountants, engineers, nurses, and doctors are in constant demand. In rural areas, tractor drivers, milking machine operators, livestock breeders, veterinarians, and zootechnicians are in demand.
