The Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee: a month of ensuring safety of working conditions and labor protection has been announced during the period of mass haymaking and fodder crop harvesting

A month of ensuring safe working conditions and labor protection during mass haymaking and fodder harvesting has been announced in the Vitebsk region starting from June 10, according to a corresponding order signed by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

 Emphasis is placed on the work of agricultural enterprises in organizing the harvesting of high-quality silage from first-cut grasses, its subsequent storage and use, in compliance with labor protection, fire safety, and sanitary and epidemiological legislation requirements.

During this period, the activities of mobile groups, which include representatives of supervisory and control bodies, centers of hygiene, epidemiology and public health, trade unions, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Labor Inspectorate, will be intensified.

Mobile groups will study the work on providing employees with personal protective equipment, serviceable tools, machinery, equipment, and devices, as well as conditions for meals and rest, and sanitary and auxiliary facilities.

Since the beginning of the year, several similar events have been organized: a month for ensuring the safety of workers in the cold period and during spring field work.

As a result of the conducted raids, over 4,000 gross violations of legislation were identified. Since the beginning of the year, 3.7 thousand employees have been brought to justice for consuming alcoholic beverages, of whom more than 500 people have been dismissed.

In accordance with Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 5 "On strengthening requirements for managers and employees of organizations," 400 officials have been subjected to disciplinary action for violating production-technological or labor discipline.

The complex of measures being carried out contributes to the reduction of industrial injuries in the organizations of the region. The total number of workplace injuries has decreased by 5 percent. Primarily, injuries are sustained by workers due to personal carelessness or violation of safety requirements.
