Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection: the number of unemployed has decreased in the Vitebsk region

As of June 1, 2022, 1290 unemployed individuals were registered in the Vitebsk region, which is 10.9 percent less than on June 1, 2021 (1447 individuals).

The registered unemployment rate as of June 1, 2022, was 0.3 percent and has not changed compared to the rate on June 1, 2021.

In January – May 2022, 7896 people applied to the employment service for employment assistance (2.9 percent more than in January - May 2021), of whom 3934 people were registered as unemployed (8.5 percent less).

Within the framework of the State Program "Labor Market and Employment Promotion" for 2021 – 2025, in January – May 2022:

·                  5549 people were employed in permanent jobs;

·                  243 people were sent for training in professions in demand on the labor market;

·                  45 unemployed individuals received subsidies to start their own businesses;

·                  1148 people participated in paid public works;

·                  temporary employment was provided to 821 students during their free time;

·                  9 unemployed individuals were employed to gain practical work experience;

·                  adaptation to work activities was organized for 12 disabled individuals;

·                  8 families of unemployed individuals were relocated to new places of residence and work.

The employment rate of citizens who applied for assistance was 59.2 percent, which is 1.5 percentage points higher than in January – May 2021.

As of June 1, 2022, employers reported 9542 vacancies, which is 10 percent more than on May 1, 2021 (8671).

The most in-demand professions for employers are: seamstress, car driver, salesperson, cook, conductor, repair fitter, electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, building and structure maintenance and repair worker, loader, cleaner. Among specialists and employees, there is a constant demand for engineers, nurses, doctors, security guards. In rural areas, there is demand for tractor drivers, car drivers, milking machine operators, livestock breeders, veterinarians, zootechnicians.
