Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection: an accessible environment will be organized at almost 90 facilities in the Vitebsk region this year

Accessible environment will be created at almost 90 facilities of social, transport infrastructure and road network of the Vitebsk region this year. This was reported by the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

"Br470 thousand are allocated for these purposes: funds from local budgets in the amount of Br464.3 thousand and own funds of event executors in the amount of Br5.4 thousand," - the committee commented.

The northern region will continue to work on creating an accessible environment within the framework of subprogram 2 "Accessible Environment for the Life of Disabled Persons and Physically Weakened Persons" of the state program "Social Protection" for 2021-2025. Last year, the region planned to organize an accessible environment with a comprehensive approach at 100 facilities. The plan was fulfilled at each of them, with 80 of them being social infrastructure facilities. These include social service, education, culture, trade and consumer services, sports and tourism institutions, housing stock, and executive committee administrative buildings. The remaining 20 are facilities of the road network and transport infrastructure.

"Br287 thousand of program funds from local budgets, as well as own funds of event executors, funds from other programs (these are "Education and Youth Policy", "Culture of Belarus"), capital and current repairs, and other sources totaling Br247 thousand were directed to the implementation of measures," - the committee explained. - "Work was carried out to create an accessible environment in the building of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, for which Br23.3 thousand were allocated. For the convenience of visually impaired people, 5 remote-controlled voice information devices, tactile floor plans of floors, and tactile floor indicators have been installed. Necessary information is duplicated in Braille. The building is equipped with a restroom for all categories of disabled people, and the parking lot has a space for vehicles of people with disabilities."
