Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection: 1.3 thousand people are registered as unemployed in the Vitebsk region

As of August 1, 2021, 1.3 thousand unemployed people were registered in the Vitebsk region, which is 22.3% less than on August 1, 2020 (1.7 thousand people).

The number of registered unemployed decreased in 15 districts of the region, in the cities of Vitebsk and Novopolotsk, and did not change in the Postavy district. The number of registered unemployed slightly increased (by 1 to 4 people) in 5 districts of the region.

The registered unemployment rate as of August 1, 2021, was 0.3% and has not changed compared to August 1, 2020.

A decrease in the registered unemployment rate was noted in 10 districts, in the cities of Vitebsk and Novopolotsk; the unemployment rate did not change in 8 districts and slightly increased in 3 districts. In all districts and cities, the registered unemployment rate does not exceed the maximum permissible value.

In January – July 2021, 13.1 thousand people applied to the employment service for assistance in finding employment (1.5% less than in January – July 2020), of whom 5.8 thousand people were registered as unemployed (8.9% less).

Within the framework of the State Program "Labor Market and Employment Promotion" for 2021–2025, in January–July 2021:

·                  10.3 thousand people were employed in permanent jobs;

·                  280 people were sent for training in professions in demand on the labor market;

·                  65 unemployed people received subsidies to start their own businesses;

·                  1865 people took part in paid public works;

·                  temporary employment was provided to 3529 people from among students in their free time;

·                  17 unemployed people were employed as part of acquiring practical work experience;

·                  adaptation to labor activities was organized for 34 people with disabilities;

·                  22 families of unemployed citizens were relocated to a new place of residence and work.

The employment rate of citizens who applied for assistance was 69.5% (with a target for January-September 2021 of 60%), which is 4.5% higher than the rate for January-July 2020.

As of August 1, 2021, employers reported 9.3 thousand vacancies, which is 41.6% more than on August 1, 2020 (6.6 thousand) and 44.7% more than on January 1, 2021 (6.4 thousand).

The most in-demand professions among employers are: seamstress, car driver, controller-cashier, conductor, bricklayer, salesperson, repair fitter, turner, electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, electric gas welder, machine operator with program control. Among specialists and employees, accountants, engineers, nurses, and doctors are in constant demand. In rural areas, tractor drivers, milking machine operators, livestock breeders, veterinarians, agronomists, and paramedics are in demand.
