Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection: despite the challenging epidemiological situation, stability in the labor market has been maintained
"Despite the challenging epidemiological situation, we have managed to maintain stability in the labor market," noted Alexander Khristoforov, Chairman of the Committee for Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The meeting was attended by Boris Efremov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Oleg Tokun, Head of the Employment Policy Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus, and Alexander Kaminsky, Head of the Budgetary and Financial Sphere Control Department of the Regional Committee for State Control.
Deputy Chairmen of District Executive Committees, heads of labor and employment departments, heads of territorial centers for social services to the population, and heads of stationary social service institutions participated online.
– It is also worth noting the positive trend in wage growth and its timely payment, – said Alexander Khristoforov.
– The positive dynamics in economic sectors, the effective implementation of the state program, and the coordination of the Ministry of Labor, as well as additional measures to reduce labor market tensions, and the work of the commission for promoting employment of the population are also having an effect. All this allows us to reduce the number of registered unemployed.
According to the results of the first nine months of the current year, more than 5,000 people, which is 70% of the unemployed who applied to the employment service, have been employed.
The priority directions of employment policy in the current year are stimulating the economic activity of the population, involving economically inactive people in labor activities, and ensuring the balance of supply and demand in the labor market. The growth rate of the employed population has been achieved only in the Miory and Tolochin districts, noted Alesya Ivanova, Head of the Population Employment Department of the Committee for Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Regional Executive Committee.
As of November 1, 2021, there were 1212 unemployed registered, which is almost 20% less than on November 1, 2020.
The decrease in the number of registered unemployed is due to an increase in demand from employers.
As of November 1, more than 9 thousand vacancies were announced – 38.4% more than on November 1, 2020.
Demand for qualified personnel persists in the labor market.
The largest number of vacant jobs were announced by enterprises in manufacturing industries – 18.9% of the total number (including organizations producing textile products, clothing, leather and fur products – 5.8%), agriculture, forestry, and fishing – 17.5%, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles – 10.7%, transportation activities, warehousing, postal and courier activities – 9.2%, healthcare and social services – 9%, construction – 7.3%, education – 6.5%.
The most in-demand professions among employers currently are: seamstress, car driver, logger, mason, tile setter, cook, carpenter, salesperson, shoe assembler, turner, milling machine operator, electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment. Among specialists and employees, accountants, engineers, nurses, and doctors are in constant demand. In rural areas, tractor drivers, milking machine operators, livestock breeders, veterinarians, agronomists, paramedics, and foresters are in demand.
