Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection: on the situation in the labor market of the Vitebsk region
The registered unemployment rate as of December 1, 2021, was 0.2 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points compared to December 1, 2020.
In January – November 2021, 19 thousand people applied to the employment service for assistance in finding employment (2.6 percent less than in January – November 2020), of whom 8.8 thousand people were registered as unemployed (8.5 percent less).
Within the framework of the State Program "Labor Market and Employment Promotion" for 2021 – 2025, in January – November 2021:
- 14.8 thousand people were employed in permanent jobs;
- 446 people were sent for training in professions in demand on the labor market;
- 91 unemployed persons received subsidies to start their own businesses;
- 2878 people participated in paid public works;
- temporary employment was provided to 4162 students during their free time;
- 24 unemployed persons were employed to gain practical work experience;
- adaptation to work activities was organized for 43 disabled persons;
- 29 families of unemployed persons were relocated to new places of residence and work.
The employment rate of citizens who applied for assistance was 71.5 percent (against the target for 2021 – 70 percent), which is 2.8 percentage points higher than the rate in January – November 2020.
As of December 1, 2021, employers reported 9.1 thousand vacancies, which is 34.5 percent more than on December 1, 2020 (6.8 thousand).
The most in-demand professions for employers are: seamstress, car driver, cashier-controller, cook, salesperson, repair fitter, car repair fitter, electric gas welder. Among specialists and employees, there is a constant demand for accountants, engineers, nurses, doctors. In rural areas, there is demand for tractor drivers, milking machine operators, livestock breeders, veterinarians, zootechnicians.
