Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection: Labor Market in the Vitebsk Region
The registered unemployment rate as of January 1, 2022, was 0.2 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points compared to January 1, 2021.
In January – December 2021, 20.1 thousand people applied to the employment service for employment assistance (2.4 percent less than in January - December 2020), of whom 9.4 thousand people were registered as unemployed (9 percent less).
Within the framework of the State Program "Labor Market and Employment Promotion" for 2021 – 2025, in January – December 2021:
- 15.8 thousand people were employed in permanent jobs;
- 464 people were sent for training in professions in demand on the labor market;
- 111 unemployed people received subsidies to start their own businesses;
- 3042 people participated in paid public works;
- temporary employment was provided to 4217 students during their free time;
- 26 unemployed people were employed to gain practical experience;
- adaptation to work activities was organized for 49 people with disabilities;
- 29 families of unemployed people were relocated to new places of residence and work.
The employment rate of citizens who applied for assistance was 72.5 percent (compared to the target of 70 percent for January – December 2021), which is 3.1 percentage points higher than in January – December 2020.
As of January 1, 2022, employers reported 8.9 thousand vacancies, which is 37.7 percent more than on January 1, 2021 (6.4 thousand).
The most in-demand professions for employers are: seamstress, car driver, cashier-controller, salesperson, repair fitter, car repair fitter, electro-gas welder. Among specialists and employees, accountants, engineers, nurses, and doctors are in constant demand. In rural areas, tractor drivers, milking machine operators, livestock breeders, veterinarians, and zootechnicians are in demand.
