Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection: over 15,000 incapacitated citizens receive social assistance at home in the Vitebsk region

A methodological meeting was held at the Committee for Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, during which the conditions for providing day care services, record-keeping, and the activities of volunteer and call centers for working with incapacitated individuals and people with disabilities were discussed. Issues related to the work of primary reception departments, analysis and forecasting, and home-based social assistance, taking into account legislative innovations, were also addressed.

– Reaching everyone, ensuring the accessibility and quality of social services is one of the main tasks of the social service. In the first quarter of this year alone, the elderly and people with disabilities received over 20 thousand one-time social and household services. Currently, over 15 thousand incapacitated citizens are recipients of home-based social assistance. Over 2 thousand elderly citizens attend day care departments, and more than 600 people reside in 21 24-hour care departments, – noted Vera Astapenko, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

A separate block of the meeting was dedicated to the mechanism of interaction with departments and public organizations for providing home-based social, rehabilitation, and medical assistance to certain categories of citizens. Within the framework of interaction, assistance to incapacitated individuals who have suffered injuries or strokes will be provided at home at an early stage.
