Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection: All residents of nursing homes in the Vitebsk region are planned to be vaccinated against influenza

All employees and residents of boarding facilities in the Vitebsk region are planned to be vaccinated against influenza, reported Vera Astapenko, Head of the Department of Social Support for the Population and Stationary Institutions of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Labor, Employment and Social Protection Committee.

Vaccination is the most effective protection against influenza and its complications. September-November is the optimal time for vaccination before the expected seasonal rise in incidence.

According to Vera Astapenko, during the most active phase of the pandemic and in the subsequent days, the spread of infections (including coronavirus) was prevented in the boarding facilities of the northern region. Employees are also prepared for a possible second wave of the disease. "Personal protective equipment and disinfectants have been purchased for three months in advance. New measures and methods are being developed to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. We are working on this together with medics, the situation is stable, there are no cases of illness," the specialist noted.

In boarding facilities, employees' temperatures are checked daily. Separate rooms have been organized for relatives to meet with residents, creating conditions to minimize contact. Communication via Skype is also practiced.

More than 3.5 thousand people live in boarding facilities in the Vitebsk region, and over 2 thousand specialists work there. All institutions have received readiness passports for the autumn-winter period.

Today, a meeting of the collegium of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Labor, Employment and Social Protection Committee was held in Vitebsk. The participants discussed improving working conditions, attestation of workplaces, and prevention of occupational injuries. Specialists also touched upon issues of strengthening public safety and discipline in boarding facilities.
