Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection: in January-May 2021, 7.7 thousand people applied to the employment service for assistance in finding employment

As of June 1, 2021, 1.4 thousand people were registered as unemployed in the Vitebsk region, which is 17.3% less than on June 1, 2020 (1.7 thousand people).

The number of registered unemployed decreased in 13 districts of the region, the cities of Vitebsk and Novopolotsk, and remained unchanged in 2 districts. The number of registered unemployed slightly increased (from 1 to 6 people) in 6 districts of the region.

The registered unemployment rate as of June 1, 2021, was 0.3%, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points compared to June 1, 2020.

A decrease in the registered unemployment rate was noted in 7 districts and the city of Vitebsk; the unemployment rate remained unchanged in 13 districts and the city of Novopolotsk; it slightly increased in the Shumilinsky district. In all districts and cities, the registered unemployment rate does not exceed the maximum permissible value.

In January-May 2021, 7.7 thousand people applied to the employment service for assistance in finding employment (2.9% less than in January-May 2020), of whom 4.3 thousand people were registered as unemployed (3.6% less).

Within the framework of the State Program "Labor Market and Employment Promotion" for 2021-2025, in January-May 2021:

• 5.4 thousand people were employed on a permanent basis;
• 253 people were sent for training in professions in demand on the labor market;
• 48 unemployed people received subsidies to start their own businesses;
• 1322 people participated in paid public works;
• adaptation to labor activities was organized for 25 disabled people;
• 14 families of unemployed people were relocated to a new place of residence and work.

The employment rate of citizens who applied for assistance was 57.7 percent (compared to the target of 55 percent for January-June 2021), which is 4 percentage points higher than the rate for January-May 2020.

As of June 1, 2021, employers reported 8.7 thousand vacancies

places, which is 38.8 percent more than on June 1, 2020 (6.2 thousand) and 35.9 percent more than on January 1, 2021 (6.4 thousand).

The most in-demand professions for employers currently are: seamstress, car driver, cook, salesperson, turner, electric gas welder, electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment. Among specialists and employees, accountants, engineers, nurses, and doctors are in constant demand. In rural areas, tractor drivers, milking machine operators, livestock breeders, veterinarians, agronomists, paramedics, and foresters are in demand.
