Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection: in the Vitebsk region, there are 6.6 vacancies per 1 unemployed person
As of July 1, 2021, 1.4 thousand unemployed people were registered in the Vitebsk region, which is 20.4 percent less than on July 1, 2020 (1.7 thousand people).
The most in-demand professions among employers currently are: seamstress, car driver, forklift driver, lumberjack, cook, sales assistant, cashier-controller, painter, tractor driver, gas and electric welder, fitter, electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, worker for complex maintenance and repair of buildings and structures.
The registered unemployment rate as of July 1, 2021, was 0.3 percent and decreased by 0.1 percentage point compared to July 1, 2020.
In January – June 2021, 11 thousand people applied to the employment service for employment assistance, of whom 5.1 thousand people were registered as unemployed.
Within the framework of the State Program "Labor Market and Employment Promotion" for 2021-2025, in January-June 2021:
- 8.4 thousand people were employed in permanent jobs;
- 267 people were sent for training in professions in demand on the labor market;
- 1661 people participated in paid public works;
- 2480 students were provided with employment during their free time;
- 64 unemployed people were granted subsidies to organize entrepreneurial activities;
- 22 families of unemployed people were relocated to new places of residence and work;
- 30 people with disabilities were employed as part of adaptation to work activities.
As of July 1, 2021, employers reported 9 thousand vacancies, which is 33.5 percent more than on July 1, 2020 (6.7 thousand). The demand for workers in blue-collar professions increased and accounted for 66.1 percent of the total number of vacancies (on July 1, 2020 – 65 percent). At the same time, in the Vitebsk region, there are 6.6 vacancies per 1 unemployed person.
