Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection: Industrial injuries in the Vitebsk region have halved

Since the beginning of the year, there have been 2 times fewer fatal industrial accidents at enterprises in the Vitebsk region compared to the 11 months of 2019, reported the head of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the regional executive committee, Alexander Khristoforov.

"In the Vitebsk region, approaches to the labor protection management system are being reformed through the implementation of the zero-trauma concept. It includes measures for the prevention of industrial injuries, reduction of occupational risks, strengthening of environmental, industrial, fire safety, as well as industrial control and labor protection. For January-November 2020, 9 fatal industrial accidents were recorded. This is half the figure for the same period last year, when 19 such cases were registered," noted Alexander Khristoforov.

An analysis of the causes of industrial injuries showed that the accidents occurred due to the employer's failure to ensure safe working conditions. Inspections are carried out to prevent industrial injuries. Since the beginning of the year, 678 responsible persons who allowed violations of production and technological, executive or labor discipline have been brought to disciplinary action.

Alexander Khristoforov cited enterprises in the region that pay paramount attention to labor protection as an example. Among them is OJSC "Kramzit Gravel Plant of Novolukoml". It is a multiple winner of the annual review competition for the best work on labor protection and a leader in the construction industry among the region's enterprises.
