Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection: Residents of the Vitebsk region will be able to learn how to care for immobile and bedridden relatives
The Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection pays attention to the organization of care for bedridden citizens. Training in this area has already taken place at the TCSO of the Orsha district, where practical master classes and lectures were conducted by employees of the international public association "Vzaimoponimanie" (Mutual Understanding). "Helping people who are bedridden due to illness or age is about ensuring the quality of life for a person in a difficult life situation. And quality is possible when professionals work. In the Orsha TCSO, training has already been provided free of charge under the project 'Individual Assistance and Care' of the 'Vzaimoponimanie' association, which is implemented with the support of a German foundation. At the social service center, a kinesiotherapy trainer worked with those who wished to gain new knowledge and skills. In the class, she focused on the psychology of communicating with severely ill citizens, explaining approaches to those who do not want to fight for life and help themselves, as well as to those who care for them. During the lesson, the problem of bedsores and their prevention was also discussed. Then the trainer introduced the trainees to the techniques for moving and repositioning patients with limited mobility and bedridden patients, including the use of additional auxiliary equipment," said Vera Astapenko.
All practical skills were practiced by the trainees in pairs. TCSO employees and interested relatives of sick people who participated in the training received certificates of professional development.
Similar practical training workshops will be held in other districts. Vera Astapenko noted that the "Vozrozhdeniye" association primarily works with juvenile prisoners, but the experience that its employees will share with the staff of social service centers will be useful to everyone who cares for relatives who are forced to observe bed rest. Novopolotsk, where former juvenile prisoners live, is ready to accept the social educational relay. Applications for training will also come from the territorial centers for social services of the region, where lessons on caring for people with limited mobility and bedridden individuals will be conducted.
