Consolidate the efforts of all prevention entities: the leitmotif of the regional seminar with the participation of chairmen of basic and primary level Councils of Deputies of the Vitebsk region

Given the negative trend in fires in 2018 and the current period, including fatalities in the Vitebsk region, a thematic seminar was held in the meeting room of the regional Council of Deputies. The event was attended by chairmen of basic and primary level Councils of Deputies, heads of structural divisions of the regional executive committee, the prosecutor's office, the Department of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and regional mass media.

Speaking to the local government and self-government bodies, the newly appointed head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Colonel of the Internal Service Sergey Meshkleshkin, voiced problematic issues in the work carried out locally to prevent deaths and injuries of people in case of fires and other emergencies, as well as the causes and conditions contributing to them. He proposed creating so-called "area maps" in each rural council, marking particularly problematic areas and outlining the algorithm for interaction between local authorities and relevant state bodies and organizations in this sphere.

In her speech, the Senior Assistant Prosecutor of the region, Natalia Kolpakova, supported the initiative of the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, announced violations identified by prosecutors in the activities of inspection commissions, and demanded that proper order be established in the work of these formations locally, especially with categorized citizens. "The activities of inspection commissions should not be formal; they should be effective," said the Senior Assistant Prosecutor of the region. She also urged those present to maximize interaction with the Councils of the Public Point for Law and Order Protection.

Overall, the regional seminar showed that such meetings, which provide an opportunity for dialogue between local authorities and the security bloc, allow for direct identification of existing problems and the proposal of the most optimal solutions.
