Theft or embezzlement of property

Theft or secret misappropriation of property is currently the most common crime in our society. Secret misappropriation of property is understood as the intentional unlawful gratuitous seizure of another's property or right to property for mercenary purposes by theft.

The desire for quick enrichment drives citizens to commit this crime. As a rule, individuals who are unemployed, lead an antisocial lifestyle, and abuse alcohol become criminals in this category of cases.

Unfortunately, such people treat the values of human labor and other people's property with disregard, believing that if something is lying around, it is a gift from fate. But the greatest disappointment for such individuals is not public condemnation and moral norms, but the criminal liability provided for the commission of property theft.

Criminal liability under Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus arises when secret misappropriation of property from an individual in the amount of more than 2 basic units (which is 200,000 Belarusian rubles) and more than 10 basic units (1,000,000 Belarusian rubles) from a legal entity is committed.

The range of punishments for secret misappropriation of property, depending on the severity of the committed crime, is quite wide, from community service to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Examples of theft are diverse, and sometimes one is surprised at how frivolous the criminals turned out to be, and as a result, the inevitability of criminal liability and punishment.

Thus, Arkady, a native of Vitebsk, born in 1981 (name changed by the author), unemployed, previously convicted, while in a state of alcoholic intoxication, secretly stole property belonging to his friend, after which he fled the scene and disposed of the stolen property at his own discretion. He also, using keys to the apartment previously stolen from the victim, secretly entered his apartment and stole cash in the amount of 668 Belarusian rubles and 80 kopecks. The accused fully admitted his guilt.

repented of his actions. By the verdict of the court of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Vitebsk, Arkady was sentenced to 3 months of arrest. This is not the most severe, but also not the lightest punishment for his wrongful actions.
