Thefts on trains. How to protect yourself.

Summer is a time of long-awaited vacation for many. And very many prefer to spend it away from home. Fans of traveling by train should be extremely careful, both on trains and at railway transport facilities, because a trip to the vacation spot can often be overshadowed by "uninvited fellow travelers".

For 5 months of 2019, the Orsha Department of Internal Affairs of Transport registered 5 thefts at railway transport facilities.

Thus, on 02.24.2019 at 00 hours 50 minutes, a previously convicted citizen Ya., while in the waiting room of the Orsha-Central railway station, secretly stole a mobile phone belonging to citizen P., worth 100 rubles. By the verdict of the court of the Orsha district and the city of Orsha, citizen Ya. was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (theft) and was sentenced to arrest for a term of 2 months.

On 02.21.2019 at 17 hours 40 minutes, a previously not convicted citizen K., while in a carriage of a business-class regional train en route "Minsk-Orsha", arriving at Orsha-Central station, stole a mobile phone from citizen B., worth 300 rubles. By the verdict of the court of the Orsha district and the city of Orsha, citizen K. was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus and was sentenced to a fine of 30 base units.

In order to prevent property theft, citizens should remember that when traveling by train, it is best to put belongings in the luggage compartment, not to leave wallets, phones, and other small electronics on the table, to put a bag with valuables under a pillow or mattress on the window side, not to be in a state of alcoholic intoxication while traveling, and not to drink alcoholic beverages with unfamiliar fellow travelers. When at the station, do not leave bags unattended or leave them under the supervision of previously unfamiliar citizens.
